IT MIGHT BREAK YOUR HEART

Legacies 150 is one of a series of thirteen photo-based interactive essays produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday and to showcase its diversity of people, place and experience. I was hired to art direct and design five of the stories. Each story was crafted with the digital reader in mind – the stories had to flow seamlessly and guide online readers through an immersive scroll-based journey combining illustration, sound, animation and text. In addition to being presented online, Legacies 150 was shown as a museum exhibit in Toronto and Halifax and was featured in media publications across Canada.

It Might Break Your Heart tells the story of Canadian Comedy icon, Mary Walsh's account of growing up as a Newfoundlander and discovering what it meant to be part of the youngest province in the Confederation. The illustrations below are by the talented Jud Haynes.
