VICTORIA PARK FILM
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to tell simple, honest stories about people and their seemingly ordinary lives. A few years back, I decided to take the leap, and made my first documentary, Victoria Park - A generation of bocce. It's the story of an endearing group of aging Italian-Canadian gentlemen who have gathered in East Vancouver's Victoria Park to play bocce ball for the past fifty-five years. At night, I took documentary film classes and during the day I taught myself how to write, produce, direct and shoot an independent film. With a small grant from BC Arts Council and a credit card, I worked my way through many unknowns and obstacles and successfully completed my 42 minute film. The project taught me an incredible amount and allowed me to meet some amazing individuals whose stories I will always treasure.
